Immigration Resources

District 16 is home to several immigrant communities, many who have successfully pursued their education, built small businesses, and consistently model the hard work and perseverance it takes to make the American dream a reality. Miranda fully supports improving access to Cook County services for all people, regardless of status.

The current federal administration’s approach to immigration enforcement is a gross deviation from constitutional principles and threatens public safety. During this difficult time, community members are encouraged to develop emergency plans and know their rights.

If you or your family are approached by an ICE agent, you have the right to:

  • Remain Silent.
  • Ask For An Attorney.
  • Deny Entry to Your Home, Unless You are Shown a Signed Judicial Warrant.
  • Refuse to Sign Anything.
  • Record Law Enforcement Activity in Public Spaces.

If you or your family are in need of emergency services related to ICE agent activities, please reach out to the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights Family Support Hotline  at 855-435-7693 To gather more information, please visit icirr.org.
